The Blue Door Art Center, located 13 Riverdale Avenue in Yonkers, NY, currently has an open call for artists for their next exhibit, “Beyond the Feminine Mystique.”

Curated by Jacqueline Lorieo, the president of the National Association of Women Artists, along with Michele Trommer Amaro, the Gallery Director and Assistant to Exec Director at BDAC,  “Beyond the Feminine Mystique” poses the question—what does being a woman look and feel like today?

Artists of all mediums—paint, collage, photography, sculpture, and more are encouraged to submit. The size limit per piece is 18” x 24” (can be larger if asked), under 100 lbs, and artists may submit up to four pieces.

The call for artists deadline is April 27, at 11:59 pm and the exhibition takes place from May 10 – June 14, 2025. There’s no cost to submit, but for installation fees and additional information, read more at the Beyond the Feminine Mystique art call website.

About the Curator

Jacqueline Loriero

Jacqueline Lorieo is a current resident of Yonkers, NY. She is a sculptor, medalist, and retired pediatric Occupational Therapist. Her experience as an Occupational Therapist helped to shape her art, as she finds the human body to be complex and inspiring. She often incorporates themes of humanity and science in her bronzes, wooden torsos, clay pieces, and small handheld medals. Her cast and carved figures have been exhibited in numerous shows in the United States as well as abroad. She currently has work in several private and public collections, including the City of Yonkers, with her piece Hudson River and Yonkers in 1784 installed in the Adrian Van der Donck Park. She has also won many awards, including the gold medal for sculpture from the National Association of Women Artists (NAWA). NAWA was established in 1889 by five women artists, and has four state chapters in Florida, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts, a national office in New York City.
