Summer Program Allows Patrons to Create Custom Objects
This summer, the Yonkers Public Library will offer free 3D printing services to its visitors. The library’s 3D printing equipment can be used to create custom keychains, phone stands, mini sculptures, and other unique items.
Program Details
Up to three 3D prints per month can be submitted by patrons holding a valid Yonkers or Westchester Library card. The service is provided at no cost, with users having to follow the established procedures:
- 3D objects can be designed using design software, or ready-made design files can be downloaded
- Files must be formatted in *.stl format
- The library’s 3D Request Form must be completed
- Files are then submitted for printing
The service has been designed to accommodate users of all ages and skill levels. No prior experience with 3D printing is required.
Resources and Support
Library staff provide all necessary equipment and support. Patrons can get help at any stage of the printing process.
