Today, members of NYCD16/15-Indivisible and other Westchester-based Indivisibles and Progressive groups, convened outside of Senator Chuck Schumer’s office in Peekskill to demand that the Democratic Senate Minority Leader oppose every Trump Cabinet nomination, and every bill that takes away our freedoms, hurts our families, and degrades our republic.
Donald Trump and Elon Musk are blitzkrieg attacking our Federal agencies, hacking into our Federal payment system (yes the one where our tax dollars all go) and have allowed unvetted 19-year-olds access to all of our very personal data.
As National Indivisible stated this afternoon, “As long as they are ignoring the Constitution and trying to usurp the powers of Congress, NO Democrat should be cooperating with any part of Trump’s agenda.”
Approximately 200 activists showed up with fabulous signs, chanted loudly, banged on drums and posed next to 2D Chuck. Since no staffers were present in his office, we channeled our anger, our fear, our frustration with the as yet flat Democratic response to the ongoing Trump coup by writing notes on post-its and postcards, which decorated Senator Schumer’s office door.
We are amplifying our messages on social media, with letters to the editor, as well as talking to legacy media reporters. We are calling our elected officials every day to let them know we are watching, mostly in horror, sometimes with joy when someone stands up and fights back! We all must turn up the heat on all our elected officials to match this critical moment in our country.
This is our Republic, if we can keep it!
